BIONEXT Commits to European Testing Week: Free and Accessible STI Screening
From November 18 to 25, 2024, BIONEXT Laboratory is participating in European Testing Week to make free screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) more accessible! This event emphasizes the importance of prevention and early STI testing, including for HIV and hepatitis, which are often detected too late.
In Europe, 1 in 5 people living with HIV is still unaware of their status, and half of the diagnoses are made late, delaying access to care. In Luxembourg, infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis rose by 23.7% between 2021 and 2022, highlighting the importance of regular testing.
Our services are free, no appointment or prescription needed:
Visit any of our collection centers
Or take advantage of our LABOMOBILE service, available in several communities in the morning (more info at https://www.labomobile.lu/)
Where to get your results?
Results will be available in the secure MYLAB app. Download the MYLAB app for quick and confidential access. Testing can also be done anonymously; just discuss this directly with the nurse on site.
Can self-tests be trusted?
Our laboratory tests, using advanced techniques, offer more accurate results than self-tests, which are often less reliable. In the case of a positive result, medical support is provided – unlike self-tests, where patients are left to manage results on their own. For those interested, STI testing is available year-round in our centers, with or without a prescription.
BIONEXT's Ambition
France has offered free HIV testing since 2019, extending it to STIs for those under 26 in 2022. This approach is becoming increasingly essential for Luxembourg as well, in response to rising case numbers and the serious complications of STIs (infertility, ectopic pregnancies, etc.). We also hope to see year-round free access to testing here, as in other European countries.
Together, let’s protect our health and that of our loved ones. Join BIONEXT for European Testing Week!
