The medical analysis laboratory BIONEXT, committed to improving access to healthcare for all patients in Luxembourg, whether residents or cross-border workers, is establishing a new department specialized in anatomical pathology: BIONEXTPATH.
This new service will cover examinations in:
- dermatopathology
- breast biopsy
- cervical smear
- digestive biopsy
The launch of this new activity is based on a partnership with a laboratory that holds ISO 15189 accreditation, thus ensuring the quality and reliability of the analyses performed.
The average turnaround time for results will be 5 days for the aforementioned examinations, depending on any additional analyses required, particularly in immunohistochemistry.
Similar to the digital services already offered for medical biology tests, the results from the BIONEXTPATH department will be available on the MYLAB platform and exclusively for the prescribing physician.
Requests for examinations can be made using dedicated forms or through the electronic prescription solution developed by Health-IT and integrated into certain medical practice software.
In the absence of a nomenclature for anatomical pathology, CNS coverage is currently not available for this activity, and we are therefore obliged to bill the patient for the examinations performed. However, complementary health insurance providers may partially or fully cover these costs depending on the patient's contract coverage. For example, our agreements with DKV Luxembourg provide coverage of 20% to 100% of anatomical pathology examinations with the third-party payment system, ensuring that a patient with a DKV contract will not need to pay these examination fees upfront.
BIONEXTPATH will digitally and anonymously transmit the required information to the National Tumor Registry for epidemiological purposes.
